How the score works

The calculator is a transparent weighted model — every factor and weight is public, and nothing is sent to a server: it runs entirely in your browser.

  • Role exposure (largest weight). Each role carries a task-level AI-exposure estimate informed by published automation research (task-composition studies from academic and industry sources) and 2022–25 layoff patterns.
  • Market demand. Current hiring demand for the role, from posting-volume trends.
  • Industry modifier. Sector stability, from healthcare/government (sheltered) to early-stage startups and agencies (most volatile).
  • Experience. Entry-level profiles carry a penalty — junior hiring contracted hardest in this cycle — while senior experience is protective.
  • Routine share. The percentage of your week spent on well-specified repeatable work, the first category AI absorbs.
  • AI fluency & learning. Daily AI-tool usage and structured upskilling are the strongest individual-level protective signals.
  • Skill moat (capped). Protective signals — building with AI, security, cloud, domain depth, leadership, public track record — add points up to a cap.
